~~Really late this week as I had to take Halimat to Tampa International early this morning
But Billy and I will be at the market bright and early tomorrow
morning with more of our limited selection of delish fruits and vegetables. Last week we started selling some of the lighter green–and more tender–Turkish longbeans
. This week we’ll have more of those and less of the beautiful, dark green Chinese longbeans
…they are slowing down. The Chinese eggplant
has slowed production too, but we should have enough. Okra
, on the other hand, is producing like crazy, so we’ll have a nice supply of that; morePassion Fruit
(not as much as the past two Saturdays) and more small White sapote
and bunch/muscadine wine & juice grapes
. We made a really tasty drink with the grapes, some passion fruit and some watermelon…refreshing! We still have a good selection of tropical pumpkins
and more freshly made seasonal Pesto
and Super Nutra-loaves
~~We’ve been selling so much Java Planet Coffees lately that I may order one more batch next week–but I’d like to sell it all before the market closes for August, so if you need any particular type to get you through until September please let me know asap. I think most types are also available in 5 lb bags at a discount ($65 instead of $70). We will be increasing the price per pound by $1 starting in September ($15 instead of $14). In case you don’t know, Java Planet Coffees are Organic, Fair-Trade, Shade-grown and Bird Friendly whole bean coffees roasted weekly in a small facility in Ybor City area (wholesale only at that location). We still have 4 Saturdays including tomorrow, so come on out and stock up with goodies from your favorite vendors. There is a chance of rain earlier tomorrow, so as usual, try to get there as early as possible. The Market runs 8AM – 1PM summer hours. See you at the Market!
~~The raw water buffalo milk supply is waning as we are only down to one milking cow right now, so we have to take it off of the long running sale and when available it will be back at $9/half gal or 2 for $17. Please pre-order when possible.
~~Raw Water Buffalo Milk & other ‘Pet Consumption’
products (ask us if you don’t know what this means): When milk is plentiful we’ll have good farmers cheeses
, Kefir, buttermilk
(best for cooking; the fluffiest pancakes ever!), unsalted creamy white butter, Whey http://dontwastethecrumbs.com/2014/05/36-ways-to-use-whey-and-5-ways-to-make-it/
and of course Raw Milk, which is regularly priced at $9/half gal. or $17/gal. It’s always helpful to pre-order the raw dairy products if possible (email@example.com).
~~For our complete availability list (except for last minute items) and information on where to find eggs and home-raised pork, check the bottom of this email.

~~Raw Water Buffalo Milk sales: We have decided to stick with the plastic half gallon containers @$9 and a convenient quart size plastic container for $5. If you would prefer quart or half gallon wide mouth glass containers there will be a $1& $2 deposit to cover the cost of the jars and you will need to let us know ahead of time by email. Kefir only comes in quart sized jars ($8 or $7 with a wide-mouth quart jar). Butter comes in 8 oz. plastic containers for $8. Remember, this is for ‘Pet Consumption Only’ by Florida law. Your ‘Pet’ will be eating like royalty 🙂
~~We grow everything organically; all ‘chemicals’ are OMRI approved for Organic growers and our fertilizers consist of composted manures (buffalo and more) and fish emulsion. We are not Certified Organic as the cost and ongoing paperwork is prohibitive for ‘real’ farmers–and there are too many variances allowed for Corporate Organic farms.
Ecofarm is currently able to participate in only one market with super fresh, organically grown produce (not Certified) and other farm products for your convenience:
* Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curbmarket Saturdays 8AM-2PM all year except August. We are located on Kentucky Avenue in front of Crispers restaurant. Check out the market website at www.ldda.org/home/farmerscurbmarket.aspx
and sign-up for the market e-newsletter. Dogs, children and fun galore!
Note: We have been providing some of our produce to this market and will continue to increase our support whenever possible.
