June 15th, 2024 Lakeland Farmers Market Newsletter

Don’t forget, the Market will close at 1:00 PM tomorrow through the end of July (closed in August)Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and Father figures taking care of human and furbabies!Goodnight! I’m about shot for today, so please check out the list of what we’ll have near the bottom of this email, and come out early tomorrow as there will be all kinds of great food and other products at the market! Come early, as we may be rained out later! Stay cool and have a wonderful weekend. Raw Water Buffalo Milk & yogurt – limit one gal. per family (more if we have a good supply); 1 yogurt, first come first served. And Java Planet Organic Coffees; whole bean, full pound bags. Edible/fruiting type plants will be available…pretty enough for the front yard!Note: Some of our newer customers that may not know; we grow almost everything that we sell (some from neighbors/customers) and all of it is grown without harmful chemicals and according to Rodale’s Organic philosophy: We do it in the dirt! Ecofarm Goings On: Sorry, but it’s so late now that I have no time to brag about anything; but it is quite amazing how the Prospera Italian basil is doing in this heat–and amazing that we have any greens still out there in the garden. Still a few winter greens and quite a few bundles of Callaloo, a fantastic summer green and spinach substitute–some customer also juice them. As they are a giant amaranth it is recommended that you cook them. Hopefully more information next week on the goings on here. We did finally get a decent rain just yesterday evening, but need so much more to save our mature cypress trees that have browned out and a myriad of other more wetland trees. Bring it on (shouldn’t say that, but for now we need more to get the soils thoroughly soaked. As always, we can use your clean, used grocery bags and small green “strawberry” baskets so we don’t have to buy new ones (we use them for many other types of produce…okra coming up). Thanks for recycling, reusing and upcycling! Our Current Markets:Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curbmarket – Saturdays 8:00AM – 1:00PM (summer hours) along Kentucky Avenue for about 5 blocks!
